Inclusion complexes with cyclodextrins
Cyclodextrins are macrocyclic oligosaccharides consisting of six (α-), seven (β-), eight (γ-) and more glucopyranose units linked by an α- (1,4) glycosidic bond. Due to the peculiarities of the chemical structure, the cyclodextrin molecule has the shape of a truncated cone or torus, along the lower and upper rim of which hydroxyl groups are located (Fig. 1).
